Thompson Rivers University (TRU) took a significant step forward in its collaboration with the University of Finance Marketing (UFM) by welcoming a prominent delegation from Vietnam in August 2024 at the TRU campus in Kamloops, Canada. This meeting aimed to strengthen the ties between their business programs and identify new opportunities for academic partnership, building on a relationship that started in 2020.
The welcoming committee was led by TRU President Brett Fairbairn and included key figures such as Laurie Robinson, Director of International Partnerships and Business Development, and Juan Mejia, Manager of Transnational Education. The UFM delegation was headed by Associate Professor Pham Tien Dat, the Rector, along with Dr. Nguyen Xuan Truong and Natalie Nguyen from AMV Consulting, highlighting the importance of this collaboration.
The current articulation program allows UFM students to transfer up to 60 credits into TRU's Bachelor of Business Administration programs. The new agreement broadens this scope, permitting UFM students from various fields to study at TRU for at least one semester. Since the partnership began, 17 UFM students have attended TRU, with expectations of 12 more for Fall 2024 and 20 for Winter 2025.
